Carbon neutrality by 2025

Vallila Kortteli was developed with an unwavering commitment to sustainability from day one and has received LEED Gold Certification. Its life cycle carbon footprint has been estimated and taken into account in e.g. material choices and recycling of the demolition materials.

All buildings in the Vallila Kortteli are energy performance rating B or better, ensuring a position in the top 15% of all Helsinki office properties and helping our tenants to achieve sustainability and taxonomy targets. Carbon neutrality by 2025 is ambitious target, but we will achieve it in time by choosing carbon free heating, cooling and electricity in both tenants’ and common premises.

Besides the comprehensive public transportation opportunities, a warm underground bicycle garage and quality sanitary facilities supports cycling as an alternative means of transport, and thus, the tenant wellbeing. The dense urban surroundings combined with the on-site service selection promotes car-free life, reducing the emissions related to transport.

The lighting in the premises is equipped with smart sensors and lights up one group at a time, depending on how the premises are moved. All premises for rent are equipped with LED lighting. The premises have temperature sensors that are involved in building automation and keep the conditions within the desired limit values. As a rule, the ventilation works according to the time programs, and the conference rooms have carbon dioxide transmitters that increase the ventilation when the limit values are exceeded
